Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a project in Revit that involves handling a large point cloud, and I could use some guidance. How do you efficiently organize heavy point clouds in Revit? Any tips or straightforward workflows you can recommend?
Thanks
We recently scanned a large site with the NavVis VLX (29 datasets) with a total size of about 84 GB. The site covers roughly 93,000 m².
We processed everything locally instead of using the online platform. After cleaning and organizing the point cloud in Cyclone 3DR, the data was reduced to about 70 GB (E57).
I tried Autodesk ReCap for zone management, but it wasn’t very efficient at this scale. After testing a few different tools, I found Qbitech (qbitec.com) works best for bringing large point clouds into Revit. It’s fast, handles heavy data smoothly, and has great visualization tools, the X-ray view and other display modes are especially useful.
