I’d like to share our workflow for generating a site model in InfraWorks using point cloud data. Our process began with acquiring a point cloud from the site. After cleaning and refining the data, we extracted high-detail contour lines from the areas of interest using Leica Cyclone 3DR. These contour lines were then exported in CAD format and used to create the site geometry within InfraWorks.
Additionally, we integrated the point cloud into InfraWorks for other purposes. However, for greater accuracy and reliability in site modeling, we recommend using CAD-derived contour lines rather than generating them directly in InfraWorks. This approach ensures a more precise and controlled representation of the site conditions.
